A quiet Sunday evening erupted into chaos as thick black smoke engulfed a Brampton neighbourhood, sending both a firefighter and a local resident to the hospital and prompting an urgent investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal.

The blaze broke out near McVean Drive and Ebenezer Road, with emergency crews racing to the scene just after 5:30 p.m. The Brampton Fire Department quickly issued a public alert, warning nearby residents to stay indoors and avoid the area due to dangerously heavy smoke.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames pouring from a home as firefighters battled the intense blaze under rapidly shifting conditions. Despite their efforts, one resident and a firefighter were rushed to hospital, their conditions yet to be fully disclosed.
