Brampton is making history — and cutting carbon. The city has officially broken ground on its first all-electric fire station, a project city officials say will slash emissions while speeding up emergency response times.
Located at 10539 Goreway Dr., the 11,377-square-foot Station 215 will run entirely on electric infrastructure — including EV fire trucks. It will also feature rooftop solar panels, a green roof, energy-efficient HVAC, and a hose tower for gear.
City councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor called it “a life-saving service that also tackles climate change,” noting the project could cut nearly 15 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year — the same as planting 666 trees or taking four gas-powered cars off the road.
The city will open the $11 million station in fall 2026 to serve over 26,000 residents in northeast Brampton. Officials say it will reduce local response times by a dramatic 33%.
Mayor Patrick Brown called Station 215 a “critical addition” to the city’s fire network. At the same time, Acting Fire Chief Richard Murdoch said the design prioritizes firefighter safety, training, and future needs.
With thousands of new homes planned in the area, Toor says the timing couldn’t be better: “We’d rather make these investments now than play catch-up later.”
